Deadly quake strikes as northwest China gripped by cold 

Description:

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Jishishan county in China’s northwestern province of Gansu province just before midnight on December 18, 2023. 

The epicentre was located near the border of Gansu and Qinghai, some 102km (63 miles) from Gansu’s provincial capital Lanzhou. 

Nearly a hundred people were killed, while more than 200 people were reported injured in the early hours of December 19.

2023년 12월 18일 자정 직전 중국 북서부 간쑤성 지산현에서 규모 6.2의 지진이 발생했습니다. 

진원지는 간쑤성의 성도 란저우에서 102km(63마일) 떨어진 간쑤성과 칭하이성의 국경 근처에 위치했습니다.

12월 19일 이른 시간에 200명 이상의 사람들이 부상을 입은 것으로 보고된 가운데 거의 100명이 사망했습니다.

This building in northwest China was ripped apart by a deadly earthquake.

Streets were filled with debris after the magnitude 6.2 quake struck on December 18.

It happened just before midnight near the border between Gansu and Qinghai provinces.

More than 110 the number of people believed to have been killed by the December19 earthquake.

More than 230 people were reportedly injured in the 2 neighboring provinces.

The epicenter was some 100km (62 miles) southwest of Gansu's provincial capital,Lanzhou.

Nine aftershocks of at least magnitude 3 were recorded before the following morning.

The disaster area is also grappling with freezing temperatures.​
