Your Cat Can Give You Brain Parasites

Researcher at the University of Indiana have studied weather parasites from cats are harmful to humans. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian (The Point) hosts of The Young Turks discuss. "Mice usually hate and fear cats. But when they're infected with a common parasite, they begin to love cats to the point of being sexually attracted to them. The science behind this phenomenon is fascinating in its own right. But the work of an Indiana University scientist suggests this parasite, toxoplasma gondii, may be even more devious than thought. Conventional wisdom holds that, most of the time, toxoplasma is not dangerous to healthy people. But the more researchers learn, the more they wonder whether the parasite, which we cannot shed once infected, has more of an impact than we realize."
