“Victory belongs to the most persevering.” Napoleon

One common trait among all successful people is perseverence. It is virtually impossible to achieve success if you don’t have persistence.

Let’s use an analogy. Let’s say you decide to run in a local charity run. The race is 10 km long, and you haven’t run for years. Obviously it would be very hard if not impossible for you to complete the race if you don’t at least get some training in before hand. In fact, it would be best if you started a month or two before the race and started out slow. Running maybe a kilometer or two at the start and gradually building up to the 10 km. Now, even assuming you have put in some training, does that mean you are assured of finishing the race? No, you must show up on race day committed to completing the run. You can’t just go the first 9 km and then quit. There is no finish line part way. You have to cross the finish line.

Many people will set goals that they intend to achieve. They’ll start out taking action towards that goal. Something will come up that presents an obstacle or challenge, and that’s it, they just quit. If you aren’t committed to achieving the goal completely, those little bumps in the road might be all it takes for you to get off track. A great way to avoid this situation, is to see your result clearly in your mind. Resolve to push through every obstacle no matter what, and reach the finish line.
